The Fisherman and the Flame

The Fisherman and the Flame is a third-year animated short created with a fantastic team of 11 at Sheridan.
It follows a fisherman who must befriend a stubborn flame to survive in a harsh, frozen world.
-
Built a comprehensive Google Sheets tracking system to monitor animation progress, layout exports, and reel-ready scenes. It was shared class-wide, and approximately 75%+ of students chose to adopt it for their own projects.
-
Additionally, I volunteered support to another team, adapting the sheet to fit their film structure and manually re-entering their progress data.
-
Wrote a custom guide for our team to streamline onboarding and maintain clean, legible project files. Topics included Harmony node view structure, transparency nodes, template imports, colouring tools, and our naming conventions.
File Management via OneDrive:
-
Implemented and maintained a shared folder system with categorized access by department (Design, Animation, FX, Compositing, etc.).
-
Included clearly labeled progress folders, export references, and clean naming protocols for seamless collaboration.
Production Monitoring & Communication:
-
Monitored weekly attendance and organized the shot list and layouts by difficulty, allowing teammates to choose scenes based on skill, portfolio goals, and challenge level.
-
Shared regular milestones, kept mentors and professors updated, summarized mentor feedback, and relayed notes to absent teammates.
